Obituary of Robert Talmidge Roper Jr

Robert “Bob” Talmadge Roper, Jr., 82, husband of 60 years to June McGee Roper, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 6, 2017. Mr. Roper was born in Fountain Inn to the late Robert Talmadge Roper, Sr. and Mary Jane Ropp Roper. He received Master’s degrees from Furman University and New Orleans Theological Seminary. Bob received a “Fellowship by Invitation” from Florida State University, and then returned home to teach at North Greenville College before retiring from Greenville Technical College, where he was a professor of Mathematics for 40 years. Bob was a member of Fountain Inn First Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School and served numerous times as Chairman of Deacons. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons and their wives, David and Sandra Roper, and John and Carol Roper; a daughter and her husband, Carey and Dr. Cary Bocklet; six grandchildren, Bobby Roper and wife Tatum, Brandon Roper and wife Casey, Elise Roper, Michael Bocklet and wife Parker, Christopher Bocklet, and Jacob Roper. He was predeceased by a sister, Jane Roper. Visitation will be 5-7pm Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral Service. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Fountain Inn First Baptist church, officiated by Rev. Michael Bearden and Dr. Condy Richardson. Burial will be in Fountain Inn City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Fountain Inn First Baptist Church, 206 North Weston Street, Fountain Inn, SC 29644.
