Obituary of Chalmers Marion Mahon

Chalmers Marion Mahon, 88, widower of Louise Johnson Mahon, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017. Mr. Mahon was born in Fountain Inn to the late Guy Thomas Mahon and Lillian Louise Willis Mahon. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War veteran. He graduated Class of 1954 from the S.C. Highway Patrol Academy. After 39 years of service, he enjoyed life and leisure as a gentleman farmer. Surviving are two sons, Paul Mahon and wife Susan, and William C. Mahon; a daughter, Gilda Brooks with husband Chris; one granddaughter, Monica Taylor and husband Lee; one great-grandchild, Mekensie Therrien; four step-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren; and special friend Cherry McCraw. He was predeceased by a sister, Amelia Mahon. Funeral services will 2 p.m. Saturday at Green Pond United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Bob Keely and Rev. Allan Gregory. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Laurens County Food Ministry or Green Pond United Methodist Church, both at 168 Stoddard Mill Road, Gray Court, SC 29645.
