Obituary of John William Wasson Jr

John William Wasson Jr., 65, husband of Ellen Smith Wasson for 45 years, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 11, 2017.

Mr. Wasson was born in Greenville to the late John W. Wasson Sr. and Mildred Gambrell Wasson.  He retired as the Chief of Inspections for the city of Greenville and was an alumnus of Greenville Technical College.  He served as the past president for the S.C. Mechanical, Plumbing, and Gas Inspectors Association.  John was a HEJAZ Shriner and served as Past Master of the Taylors Masonic Lodge #345.  He was an honorary member of the Building Officials Association of S.C. and a member of the Upper State Code Enforcement Association of S.C.   John was an avid golfer and a member of Fox Run Country Club.   He was a member of Mauldin First Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sisters, Sandra Calvert (Jesse Coker), Donna Lanier, and Mary Jane “MJ” Wasson; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral Service.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mauldin First Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Wade Leonard.   Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Graceland East Cemetery.
