Obituary of Mary Kathleen Jennings Burroughs

Kathy Jennings Burroughs, 72, wife of Robert Burroughs for 53 years, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 23, 2017.

Mrs. Burroughs was born in Conestee to the late Wade Clifford Jennings and Mildred Agnes Bayne Jennings.  She was a life-long member of Simpsonville First Baptist Church, where she proudly served as the funeral meal coordinator and also served on the Benevolence Committee.  She and Robert were members of the Open Door Sunday School class.  Kathy enjoyed cooking and was known as “mom’s taxi” for her children and grandchildren’s events.  More than anything, she enjoyed being “Grammy” to her grandkids.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three daughters, Melanie Manly (Shannon), Melissa Burroughs, and Michele Garrett (Joey); daughter-in-law, Debbie Burroughs; brother, Clifford Jennings (Susie); sister, Martha Ann Shelton; three grandchildren, Rick Garrett, Cameron Manly, and Blakely Garrett; and a special life-long friend, Diane Kirvin.  She was predeceased by a son, Michael “Gumby” Burroughs.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Sunday at Fletcher Funeral Service.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Monday in the sanctuary of Simpsonville First Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Dan Taylor.  Burial will follow in the Simpsonville City Cemetery.
