Obituary of Furman Haley Bryant

The Reverend Furman Haley Bryant, 78, husband of Jean Smith Bryant for 58 years, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 29, 2017, after a prolonged illness.

Rev. Bryant was born in Greenwood to the late George Haley Bryant and Sarah Lee Ouzts Bryant.  He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Wasp.  He retired from the Church of God in Cleveland, TN after serving as the state director of evangelism. Rev. Bryant pastored numerous churches in his tenure in the state: West Florence, Kingstree, Aynor, North Charleston, Sumter, Florence – Palmetto Street, where he relocated and built new facilities.

Surviving, in addition to his wife; is his younger brother, George Marion Bryant and wife Jane.

Funeral services will be 3 pm Sunday at the Mauldin Church of God. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Memorials may be sent to Furman Bryant at Praise Cathedral, 3355 Brushy Creek Road, Greer, SC 29650.

A private burial service will be held 1 pm Monday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
