Obituary of Betty Jo Phillips Stoddard

Betty Jo Phillips Stoddard, widow of Bryson Stoddard, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. Mrs. Stoddard was born in Fountain Inn to the late Boyd Phillips and Belia Ruth Phillips. She worked at T.E. Jones & Sons and the McLawhorn Clinic before retiring from Garrett & Garrett. She was a member of the Fountain Inn First Baptist Church, where she attended the Esther Sunday School class and sang in the choir. Betty Jo loved music, cooking, crocheting and flower gardening. She was honored as Miss Fountain Inn of the Fountain Inn High School Class of 1947. She is survived by her son, Philip Stoddard. She was predeceased by a daughter, Phyllis Jo Stoddard; a brother, Roger Phillips; and three sisters, Virginia Cook, Dot Kimbrell and Ada Thackston. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Fountain Inn First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Cannon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1-2:30 p.m. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Helping Hands Home Health Services, specially Donna Gosnell, Nicole Herbst, Lisa McDonald, Nikia Davis, Darlene Williams and Sharlene McAbee; The entire staff of Piedmont Hospice, especially her hospice nurse, Rebecca Serin; and special friend and sitter Dolly Alewine. Flowers are accepted; or memorials may be made to the Esther Sunday School Class, c/o Fountain Inn First Baptist Church, 206 N. Weston Street, Fountain Inn, SC 29644.
