Obituary of Evelyn Elizabeth Ragsdale Mahaffey

Evelyn Elizabeth “Mother” Ragsdale Mahaffey, 92, widow of Roy “Bill” Mahaffey, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 20, 2022. Mrs. Mahaffey was born in Pelzer to the late Clyde Ragsdale and Onie Blake Ragsdale Norwood. She retired from Her Majesty and attended the Church of God. Mother loved fishing and her animals. She enjoyed shopping, sewing and solving puzzles. For many decades, she delighted in preparing the family Christmas dinner. Surviving are two sons and their wives, Mike and Barbara Mahaffey, and Tim and Jimmie Mahaffey; a daughter, Diane Davenport; a sister, Tina Schofield with husband Dan; five grandchildren, Kelly Davenport with wife Christi, Brian Mahaffey, Jeremy Mahaffey with wife Jessica, Keith Mahaffey, and Timmy Mahaffey with wife Michelle; and twelve great-grandchildren, Becki, Jonathan, Kelsey, Alyson, Charlie, Keltsy, Lauren, Jayden, Abby, Hunter, Parker and Luke. She was predeceased by two brothers, Larry Norwood and Heyward Norwood; a sister, Barbara Taylor; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Ryan. A Celebration of Mother’s Life will be 1 o’clock Tuesday at Fletcher Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Eddie Crocker. Burial will be in Cannon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
