Obituary of Billy Whiten

Please share a memory of Billy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
CMSGT George William “Billy” Whiten, Jr., USAF Retired, 79, husband of Susanna Richardson Whiten, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 21, 2022. Mr. Whiten was born in Greenville to the late George William Whiten, Sr. and Virginia McKinney Whiten. He was an alumnus of Gulf Coast Community College and Florida State University and a retired veteran of the US Air Force. Billy also retired from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office. He was a huge Clemson football fan and also loved golfing, bowling, fishing and playing poker. Billy was a tender hearted, sentimental man who gave of himself and his time constantly. He enjoyed cooking and baking cakes and had a penchant for strawberry cakes. He was a dedicated family man who cherished his children and grandchildren (and his dog Henry). Billy always believed in capturing the moment and preserving the memories, keeping his camera ready for each event. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, George Whiten, III, and Kadd Richardson Masters with partner Joseph Espinal; five daughters, Virginia McCord, Linda Coffin with husband Nathan, Mandy Powell with husband Jeff, Anna Shea Clifford with husband Mark, and Mia Jane Masters with husband Jay Richardson; a brother, Dale Whiten with wife Claudia; friend, Brenda Masters; nine grandchildren, Samantha Clifford, Mark Clifford, Jeffrey Powell with wife Megan, Cole Powell, Brooke Clifford, Keegan Coffin, Kierce Coffin, Lillie Williams, and Shelby Leigh Cooley with husband Jeffrey; and seven great-grandchildren, Posie Paige, Ashton, Alana, Lexie, Logan, Ashton, and Huntleigh. He was predeceased by a son, Randy Whiten; a brother, Mike Whiten; and his friend, Stanley Masters. A Celebration of Billy’s Life will be 5 o’clock Wednesday at Fletcher Funeral Service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Burial, with full Military Honors, will be 10 o’clock Thursday at Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
