Obituary of Fred Howard Brashier
Please share a memory of Fred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Fred Howard Brashier, 90, husband of the late Betty Mulligan Brashier, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.
Mr. Brashier was born in Simpsonville to the late John Lewis Brashier, Sr. and Onie Tucker Brashier. He was a Korean War veteran of the US Army. Fred was a lifelong member of Unity Baptist Church, where he attended the Ridgeway Sunday School Class, Joy Fellowship, sang in the choir, and served on the Intercessory Prayer Team. He also served as a deacon several times and on the cemetery committee for many years. He retired from W.R. Grace. Under their employment, Fred traveled the world, landing on six of the eight continents. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, the Atlanta Braves, western movies and gospel music. Fred loved tending his vegetable garden, “piddling” around in the yard, and bible study; however, his greatest joy was being Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was known among his family and friends for his kind, loving spirit, servant heart, and faithfulness to the Lord.
Surviving are a daughter, Denece Hendricks (Roger); two brothers, Bob Brashier and Ed Brashier; three sisters-in-law; two grandchildren, Stephanie Dickson (Joe), and Cameron Hendricks (Jordan); and three great-grandchildren, Connor Dickson, Emma Dickson and Cason Hendricks. He was predeceased by his son Timothy Brashier and by four brothers, Lewis Brashier, Jr., Claude Brashier, Lawrence Brashier, and Frank Brashier; a sister, Frances Brashier; and three sisters-in- law.
A Celebration of Fred’s Life will be 11 o’clock Friday at Unity Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Larry Ledford. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will be private in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Unity Baptist Church Building Fund, 1000 Fairview Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680.
