Obituary of Gary Lynn King, Sr.

Gary Lynn King, Sr., 73, husband of Gail Elizabeth Davenport King for 53 years, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Mr. King was born in Salem, OR to the late Kenneth Bruce King and Nancy Lee Brush King. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Carroll and Nancy Leonard. He was an alumnus of Newman College. Gary was a veteran of the US Air Force and retired from Michelin and Parachem. He was a big fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Clemson Tigers. He enjoyed working on cars and dirt track racing. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Gary King, Jr. with wife Alison; a daughter, Gayla Kellner; a brother, Norman King; three sisters and their husbands, Debbie and Bud Howard, Linda and Rod Hockmuth, and Bonnie and Curt Willis; a granddaughter, Katie Kellner; and a great-granddaughter, Mahylia. A Celebration of Gary’s Life, with Military Honors, will be 1 o’clock Tuesday at Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Danny Blackwell.
