Mr. Mayfield was born in Simpsonville to the late Henry Milford Mayfield and Clemis Isabelle Jones Mayfield.  He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.  He was a graduate of Greenville Technical College and retired from Kemet Electronics.

Lewis was the co-owner and operator of White Creek Creations and a founding member and longtime volunteer of the Clear Springs Fire Department.  He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and a big fan of the Clemson Tigers.  Lewis was an Allis-Chalmers tractor enthusiast and a big collector of related memorabilia.  He and his grandsons collected HESS trucks every year.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters, Gwen Burns and Robin Potts with husband Jeff, and step-daughter Christa McDonald; a brother, Leland Mayfield with wife Pam; a sister, Linda McDonald; and three grandsons, Jacob Burns, Nicholas Burns, and Aiden Potts.  He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Lewis McDonald; a grandson, Cory Burns; and his beloved border collie “Chalmers”.
