Obituary of Everett Kendall

Please share a memory of Everett to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Everett Augustus Kendall, 83, husband of Sandra “Sandy” Manley Kendall for 59 years, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

Everett was born in Albemarle, NC to the late Edward Augustus “Eddie” Kendall and Inez Lee Kimrey Kendall.  He was an alumnus of NC State University where he served as chapter president of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. Everett worked professionally as an engineer, in sales and in management, ultimately retiring from British Petroleum (BP). Everett’s great passion was serving Jesus by serving his family and his church. In his Bible, above Matthew 25:40, Everett wrote: “Doing for others is doing for Jesus.”

Everett served the local church his whole life, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Director, bus driver, Building Committee member and any other place where there was a need. After retirement, Everett dedicated himself to ministering to the congregation of his church by improving their homes and providing pastoral care. In 2024, he served as Chairman of the Deacons.  He also served many congregations in Alagoas, Brazil by leading more than 30 mission projects.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Rett Kendall, with wife Nancy; a daughter, Kimrey Smith; two brothers, Craven Kendall and Butch Kendall with wife Sharon; two sisters, Maxine Nance and Kathy Burgin with husband John; four grandchildren, Edward Kendall, Katie Kendall, Kendall Smith and Anna Caroline Kendall; and a great-granddaughter, Olivia May, daughter of Edward & Leann Kendall.  He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Kendall.

A celebration of Everett’s life will begin at 3 o’clock Sunday in the sanctuary of First Baptist Simpsonville, officiated by Dr. Wayne Bray.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In memory of Everett’s extraordinary commitment and dedication to the people and ministries of Brazil, memorials in his honor may be made to Upstate Church, Attn: Brazil Mission Fund, 3 Hedge Street, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
