Obituary of Kevin Raddin

Please share a memory of Kevin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kevin Thomas Raddin, 60 of Simpsonville, SC died Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at his home.  He was predeceased by his parents, Richard “Dick” Raddin and Charlene Thomas Raddin, his grandparents Lyle and Helen Drinkard Thomas of Concord, VA and Harry and Jackie Raddin of Richmond, VA.  He is survived by his son, Kevin Thomas Raddin, Jr. (Tommy) and wife Hannah and granddaughter Caroline Raddin of Columbia, SC; his sister, Tracey Page and husband Terry and niece Tori Page of Simpsonville, SC; as well as his uncle Dr. Hal and Margaret Raddin of Richmond, VA and aunts Robin Winters of Phoenix, AZ, and Mary Raddin of Gloucester, VA.  He is also survived by numerous cousins.

Kevin was born in Lynchburg, VA during a visit by his parents to his grandparents’ farm. He grew up in the Carolinas as his family moved with his dad’s profession.  Most of his teen years were spent in the Simpsonville, SC area where he had returned to in the last several years.  The family farm in Concord, VA was always in Kevin’s heart and he visited at least annually, calling it “home”.

During high school at Mauldin High, Kevin acquired the nickname “Cubby”.  This perfectly reflected his infectious laugh and big bear hugs.  He loved his many friends, the outdoors, Clemson football, fishing, camping and GOLF.  More than anything, he loved his son, Tommy and was so proud of his granddaughter, Caroline.

Kevin attended Catawba Valley Community College where he earned Golf Course Superintendent and Horticulture degrees.  He worked as a Golf Course Superintendent for several courses across the Carolinas during his career, and most recently, part-time doing maintenance at Carolina Springs Golf Course.  He met many of the “Greats” in the golfing community throughout his career.

Having a heart for service and helping others, Kevin volunteered at the soup kitchen on a regular basis.  He was a member of and attended church at First Baptist Simpsonville where he frequently volunteered for the golf cart ministry.  He was active in the Men’s group and traveled to Brazil for missions work.  Kevin simply loved people.

We wish to thank Kevin’s friends and those in his AA group for their love and support.  The family wishes to celebrate Kevin’s life during a visitation and service on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 4:30 pm at Fletcher Funeral Home (1218 N. Main Street, Fountain Inn, SC).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Simpsonville, 3 Hedge Street, Simpsonville, SC  29681; or to Caroline’s 529 college savings plan, c/o Tommy Raddin, Jr., 7 Holly Hedge Lane, Blythewood, SC 29016.
