Richard Peter Zane, 72, husband of Susan Marie Nee Zane for 50 years, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Mr. Zane was born in Bryn Mawr, PA to the late William Zane and Barbara Prescott Merrick Zane.  He was an alumnus of Temple University and graduated first in his class in mechanical engineering. He worked with the Naval Department of Defense and Lockheed Martin until his retirement.

Family was a huge priority for Rich, and he cherished time with Susan and Susie throughout the years. He enjoyed traveling all around the world and exploring new places. He also used his engineering skills to work on cars and fix anything that broke.

Rich had an outgoing and dynamic personality. He always enjoyed meeting new people and made friends wherever he went.  Rich became a fan of Clemson University football when Susie completed her graduate program there.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Susie King with husband Jeremy; a brother, Ronald Zane with wife Gail; and two sisters, Katherine Covington with husband Jeffrey and Patricia McNeill.  He was predeceased by a brother, William Zane.

Visitation will be 5:30 – 7:30 PM Thursday at Fletcher Funeral Service in Fountain Inn.

A celebration of Rich’s life will begin at 12 noon Friday at Faith Baptist Church in Simpsonville.  Burial will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park.
