James Carey Lee Brown, 23, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Born in Sumter, SC, he was the son of James Lewis Brown and Alicia Nicole Pruitt Brown.
James was affectionately known as “Scooter” at home and “Tiny” at work. Scooter had a big heart and was considered a gentle giant. He was quiet, well mannered, and had an old soul. His quiet, reserved personality enabled him to manage effectively both on the job and at home. Scooter was a hard worker, took pride in his job, and remained humble. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved going to the beach. Scooter adored his sister and his nieces. He even became attached to his sister’s cats.
In addition to his parents, James is survived by his sister and best friend, Makenzie Brown (Kobie Graber); two nieces, Inlee Graber and Sahana Graber; his paternal grandmother, Nanny (Gail Brown); maternal grandmother, Grandma (Betty Pruitt); and his employers who he considered like his second parents Pops and Mama Cheryl (Bobby and Cheryl Fowler). He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Papa (Don Brown) and maternal grandfather Papa P (Robert Pruitt).
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 28, 2025 at Fletcher Funeral Service from 2:00 – 3:30 pm. A celebration of life will follow in the chapel at 3:30 pm.
