Retta May Burcham Bennett, 82, widow of James Edwin Bennett, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 24, 2025.  Born in Amelia County, VA, she was a daughter of the late Marvin Elbert Burcham and Cora Anna Easter Burcham.

Retta was a member of Center Point Baptist Church where she loved volunteering.  She was an avid reader and liked to collect angel figurines.  Retta also enjoyed jig-saw and crossword puzzles.

Retta is survived by her children, Marvin Wyatt (Vivian) of Maryville, TN; Pam Brown (Chris) of Veteran, WY; Jerry Shelton (Tonya) of Summerville, SC; Matthew Bennett (Tara) of Powder Springs, GA; Stephen Shelton (Denise) of Yancey, NC; and Regina McGugan (Graham) of Chesnee, SC; sixteen grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Darryl Wyatt; and four sisters, Algia Midkiff; Juanita Burcham, Naomi White, and Nadine Painter.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Fletcher Funeral Service in Woodruff from 10 – 11 am.  A celebration of life will follow beginning at 11 am.  Retta will be laid to rest at the First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Woodruff.
