Hattie Marie Smith Browder, 92, widow of Frederick Freeman Browder, Jr., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

Mrs. Browder was born in Brunswick County, VA to the late George Barham Smith and Winnie Josephine Moore Smith.  Some of her fondest memories were growing up on the family farm in Virginia.  Hattie was a member of The Methodist Church of Simpsonville and a former Sunday School teacher in the children’s division.  She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and visiting the elderly.    Hattie was very creative and artistic and was a self-taught painter.  She was a fabulous cook.  Her greatest joy was being “Nonar Hattie” to her grandchildren.

Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Brenda and Jim Bouchillon, and Kathy and Mike Moss; three grandsons and their wives, Bobby and Diana Bouchillon, Lane and Tracy Moss, and Jeff and Lindsey Moss; and four great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Michael, Lydia Marie, and Luke.  She was predeceased by a brother, Ashton “Butch” Smith; and a sister, Ann Adkins.

Funeral services will begin at 2:05 PM Tuesday at The Methodist Church of Simpsonville, officiated by the Rev. Dr. Mike Smith.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in the Simpsonville City Cemetery.
