Vera Jones Obituary

Vera McKittrick Jones, 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 14, 2025.  Born in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late George Leon McKittrick and Tency Nelson McKittrick.

Vera retired from Kemet Electronics after 38 years of dedicated service. She spent the remainder of her retirement selflessly loving her family. Vera could do just about anything from canning vegetables to carpentry and even remodeled the family home. Vera enjoyed playing video games, taking photos, scrapbooking, and fishing.  She played both the guitar and piano.  She was very organized and a true patriot at heart.  Vera was a collector of angels and teapots. She enjoyed family gatherings, trips to the coast, and she especially loved the season of Christmas.

Vera is survived by her daughter, Misty Jones; two grandsons, Adam Wyatt (Paige) and Logan Wyatt; her great granddaughter, Harper; a brother, J.P. McKittrick; one sister-in-law, Bonnie Kelley and a host of nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her son, Rick Jones; two brothers, J.B. McKittrick and Harold McKittrick; and three sisters, Margie Williams, Inez Starnes, and Shirley Ladd.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Fletcher Funeral Service from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm.  A Celebration of life will follow in the chapel beginning at 2:00 pm. Burial to follow at Hopewell United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Vera’s life to Miracle Hill Ministries, 490 South Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, SC 29607.
