Rita Vaughn Darnell, 76, widow of Alvin David Darnell, went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 26, 2025.

Mrs. Darnell was born in Gray Court to the late Gene Ansel Vaughn and Lucille Elizabeth Holliday Vaughn.  She was an active member of Fountain Inn Church of God of Prophecy and retired from Caterpillar, Inc.  Rita was an avid Gamecock football fan and enjoyed hosting Game Days at her home. She was compassionate, and served others selflessly.  Rita loved her family, church family and friends dearly, ensuring all were taken care of.

Surviving, are a son, Jerry Holliday, Jr. and his wife Leslie; a daughter, Debra Darnell; a brother, Billy Vaughn with his wife Faye; three grandchildren, Taylor, Steven, and Archie; and dear friends, Pastor Stephen Christopher and Judy Christopher. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Gene Vaughn and Donnie Vaughn; and a sister-in-law, Frances Vaughn.

A memorial service will be held 9:30 am Thursday at Fletcher Funeral Service, officiated by Pastor Stephen Christopher. Inurnment will follow in Cannon Byrd Memorial Park.
