Gene Ragsdale Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Gene Wesley Ragsdale.  He was the loving son of the late Louis Dan Ragsdale and Mary Francis Patterson Ragsdale.

Gene is survived by a son, Ross Ragsdale with wife Kristy; a brother, Don Ragsdale; a sister, Nancy Hoffman; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Kelly Padfield; a brother, Stanley Ragsdale; and two sisters, Harriett Ballard and Diane “Bitsy” Lackey.

Gene was a veteran of the SC Army Reserve National Guard.  He was the founder and operator of Ragsdale Paint Company.  His quick wit, dry sense of humor, and lively personality made him a cherished friend and family member to all who knew him.

A former avid golfer, Gene enjoyed playing the game in his younger days, and he found great joy in watching South Carolina Gamecock football. He also loved spending time with his loyal dog, Goofus, who was a constant companion and source of happiness.

Gene’s humor, and strong spirit will be deeply missed. His memory will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

May Gene Wesley Ragsdale rest in peace.
