Darrell Edward Lancaster, 68, husband of Karen Denise “Kay” Williams Lancaster for 33 years, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 3, 2025.
Mr. Lancaster was born in Tampa, FL to the late Charles Lancaster and Martha Ellen Mitchell Lancaster. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and retired from Cryovac after 47 years of service. Darrell was a graduate of the US Air Force Community College and Greenville Technical College. Coach Darrell was a longtime fixture in youth sports for the City of Woodruff. He took great pride in coaching young athletes and instilling the importance of effort and teamwork into their character. He enjoyed fishing, watching Clemson Tiger sports, and being “Big Papa” to his family.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Brad Lancaster; a daughter, Stacy Lynn Moore with husband Kenny; a daughter-in-law, Genna Lynn; a brother, Michael Lancaster with wife Trina; a sister, Kiesha Hall with husband Chad; eleven grandchildren, Kenzie Lancaster, Jacob Coppedge, Kaleb Locklair with Sadie; SGT Tyler Richards with wife Kayla, Sydney Sloan with fiancé Jace, Andrew Moore, Kaitlyn Williams, Brayleigh Lancaster, Jayce Lancaster, Alexis Merrifield with husband Levi, and Alyssa Lynn; and nine great-grandchildren, Hadleigh Coppedge, Harvest Coppedge, Ellie Richards, Dallas Richards, Waylon Locklair, Teagan Merrifield, Phoenix Merrifield, Hunter Williams, and Haizlee Williams. He was predeceased by a son, James Lynn; and a brother, Ricky Lancaster.
A celebration of Coach Darrell’s life will begin at 5 o’clock Thursday in the Fellowship Hall of Selma Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Military Honors will be provided by the US Air Force Honor Guard.
