David Wentz Obituary

David Andrew Wentz, 69, beloved husband of Donna Georgia Canfield Wentz for 47 years, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.


Born in Richwood, West Virginia, David was the son of the late George Donald Wentz and Sherley Iline Simmons Wentz. He was a devoted member of Peoples Baptist Church. Throughout his career, David worked hard in the coal mines of West Virginia before moving to South Carolina and retiring from BMW. He was also proud to serve as a volunteer fireman with the Webster Springs Volunteer Fire Department in Webster Springs, WV.


David was passionate about family, hunting, fishing, collecting knives and gardening. He cherished cheering for the West Virginia University Mountaineers and sharing his love for the outdoors with family and friends.


He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; three children, Jeramey Wentz (Melissa), Jessica Wentz (Justin), and Joshua Wentz (Constance); and eleven grandchildren: Brian, Paige, Spencer, Dylan, James, Kylee, Hattie, Allison, Madelynn, Nick and Bud.


He was predeceased by his sister, Teresa Wentz.


A celebration of David’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Service, Simpsonville SC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
