Alma Jean Teague Hughes, 87, widow of Robert Lee Hughes, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025, in a valiant effort to save her son during a home fire.  Her actions serve as a reminder that the love of a Mother is a precious gift that should be admired and cherished.

Mrs. Hughes was born in Chesnee to the late Bernard Teague and Gladys Marie Morton Teague.  She was a member of Cedar Shoals Baptist Church and retired from Greer Mills.  Alma Jean enjoyed shopping, especially for shoes and purses.  She and Robert spent countless hours enjoying their favorite pastime of fishing for catfish.  She was a collector of teapots, but her greatest treasure was being Mama to her grandchildren.

Surviving are a son, Mike Wilson with wife Jeannie; a daughter, Beth Guinn with husband Billy; eight grandchildren, Travis Johnson with wife Amanda, Cody Johnson with wife Tammie, Thomas Wilson, Caroline Wilson, Kristian Colyard with husband Aaron, Jordan Guinn, Jessica Marchant with husband Trey, and Cara Stevens with husband Jonah; and fifteen great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by a son, Randy Wilson; a daughter, Robin Leeann Hughes; three brothers, Ronnie Teague, Wayne Teague, and Ricky Teague; and a sister, Sarah Teague.

Funeral services will begin at 4 o’clock Thursday at Cedar Shoals Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Carroll Caldwell and Rev. Gunne Davis.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
