Claude Marshall Rushton, Jr., of 4871 Greenpond Road, Gray Court, South Carolina, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 7, 2025. Born on February 12, 1944, Claude, affectionately known as Pete, was raised in Greenwood, SC. He was the beloved son of Claude Marshall Rushton, Sr. and Margaret Norris Rushton. Pete graduated from Greenwood High School in 1962, the same year he married Gloria (Jenny) Moore, on July 9.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Jenny and their three children: Gregg Rushton, Becky Friddle (Tony), and Pam Elliott (Toby). Pete was also cherished by his grandchildren: Kory Pippin, Rushton Pippin (Catherine), Abby Guy (Andrew), Reagan Elliott, and Dipali Patel Britton (Adam), as well as his great-grandchildren, Milana and Elliott. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Diane Meredith Rushton and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Christopher, his parents, his brother, James Rushton, and his sister, Peggy Rushton Bryan.
A devoted member of Beulah Baptist Church, Pete served faithfully as a deacon and was an active member of the choir, where he delighted in singing duets, trios, and quartets. Professionally, he dedicated his career to the mobile home industry, working with several companies, including his own, Rushton Homes and Highland Homes.
In his leisure time, Pete treasured moments spent with his grandchildren, often taking them on trips to the mountains. His life was a testament to his love for Jesus, always putting others before himself and sharing kindness generously.
