Gerald Edward Shaw, 76, husband of Sandra Elaine Mahaffey Shaw, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.  Born in Ashe County, NC, he was the son of the late Charles Edward Shaw and Alice Ada Blevins Shaw.

Gerald enjoyed riding in the country and bird feeders.  He collected knives and loved a good hot dog.  Gerald’s greatest joy was being a grandfather to 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, Sandra, Gerald is survived by his daughter, Patricia West (Scott); five grandchildren, Tim West (Laura), Justin Shaw (Kimberly), Johnathan West (Aimee), Cody Shaw, and Autumn Shaw; and ten great grandchildren, Aiden, Asher, Kinsley, Jaxon, Lillian, Robert, Kira, Emmy, Adaline, and Jonathan.  In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by a son, Robert Shaw; and five sisters, Alta Jones, Reka Brady, Shirley Howell, Wylene Testerman, and Nancy Wilkerson.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Fletcher Funeral Service in Woodruff from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.  A celebration of life will be held at Cashville Church of God of Prophecy on Friday, September 12, 2025 beginning at 2:00 pm.  Burial will follow the service at Stribling Cemetery in Woodruff.
