Johnny Robert Harper, loving son, brother, dad, grandpa, and uncle, went home to Jesus in the early morning of September 9, 2025 surrounded by his family and dedicated staff of Clinton Manor.
Johnny was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his sons, Jonathan and Matthew; a daughter, Amanda; four grandchildren; a sister, Margaret; two brothers, James (Jean) and Don (Jane); and many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
He was predeceased by his parents, Marjorie Ellen Marsillo Harper and James Addy Harper, Jr.; a brother, Mike; a nephew, T.J.; and a brother-in-law, Tommy.
Johnny loved to tell jokes, bowl, fish, and play softball. He enjoyed the old gospel hymns, “real” country music, and, of course, comedians. He really loved food of all kind. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the staff at Clinton Manor and the Laurens County Disabilities and Special Needs Board. Courtney and Kimberly, along with ALL the staff, showed Johnny compassion, understanding, love, and treated him with dignity and respect during his time with them (more than anywhere he had lived previously).
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Fletcher Funeral Service. A celebration of life will follow at 12:30 pm in the chapel. Burial will be private for the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clinton Manor Community Residence, 101 Clinton Manor Drive, Clinton, 29325.
