Thomas Osby “Tom” Godfrey, 82, husband of Linda Kathleen Hall Godfrey for 58 years, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 26, 2025.
Mr. Godfrey was born in Greenville to the late Harley Theodore Godfrey and Ruth Elizabeth Chandler Godfrey. He was a member of Hillside Baptist Church where he served as a church pianist. Tom was a veteran of the SCARNG and retired from Union Carbide. He worked many years at Mutual Home Store. Tom was an alumna of North Greenville University. He was known for collecting rubber ducks and his frequent visits to his favorite state – Florida. Tom was a people person that would talk to anyone and enjoyed shopping and working outside. He cherished being “Grandpa” to his granddaughter.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Tom Godfrey, Jr. and Ted Godfrey; and his granddaughter, Tedi Godfrey with fiancé Casey Dowdle.
A celebration of Tom’s life will begin at 11 o’clock Tuesday at Hillside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will begin at 2 o’clock Tuesday in the Rocky Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
