Alvin Hagan Thackston, 85, husband of Myra Loyie Tate Thackston for 64 years, went to be with the Lord on October 27, 2025.
Mr. Thackston was born in Fountain Inn to the late William Pink Thackston and Elizabeth Jane Leopard Thackston. He was a member of Mauldin First Baptist Church. Alvin retired from Cryovac and worked many years at Fletcher Funeral Service. He was a HEJAZ Shriner and a member of the Simpsonville Masonic Lodge. Alvin enjoyed woodworking, bushhogging, and rocking on the front porch. He was a collector of knives.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Lisa McDaniel with husband Joe; a sister, Blanche Taylor with husband David; and a grandson, Andy McDaniel. He was predeceased by four brothers, Lawrence Thackston, Avery Thackston, Fred Thackston, and Haskell Thackston; and three sisters, Madge Woods, Hazel Smith, and Bertha Ferguson.
A celebration of Alvin’s life will begin at 3 o’clock Saturday in the mausoleum chapel of Graceland East Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service.
