Jim Cooper Obituary

James Edward “Jim” Cooper, 86, husband of Sandra Ann McDougald Cooper for 59 years, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.


 


Mr. Cooper was born in Pittsburg, KS to the late Arthur Pittar Cooper and Reba Agnes Fink Cooper.  He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.  Jim was a veteran of the US Army and retired from J.P. Stevens, Inc.  He enjoyed bible-study, collecting stamps, and watching westerns.  His favorite pastime was sitting on the porch and enjoying nature.


 


Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, George Cooper with wife Lauren; two daughters, Dawn Barnes with husband Greg, and Stephanie Martin with husband Lewis; five grandchildren, Brittney Barnes, Lauren Barnes, Trey Martin, Abbi Martin, and Molly Cooper; and a great-granddaughter, Penelope.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank Cooper and Jack Cooper.


 


Memorial services will begin at 1 o’clock Thursday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.  Military Honors will follow the service and the family will greet guests thereafter.  Inurnment will be in Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
