Ernest George Zullo, III, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 after a short illness. Born in Lake Charles, LA, he was the son of Catherine Ann Rinck Zullo and Ernest G. Zullo Jr. (Phyllis).
Known to the family as little Ernie, he graduated from Greeley West High School in Greeley, CO. He attended the University of Northern Colorado where he earned his PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. Ernie became a dedicated educator serving as an adjunct professor at Naropa University in Bolder Colorado, a Buddhist-inspired Contemplative University, and University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, KY. He served as an Assistant Professor in Applied Psychology for Antioch University where his students affectionately called him Dr. Z. Earnie was an avid reader, enjoyed science fiction, a fan of Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks, and had a great sense of humor.
Ernie is survived by his sister, Catie Reynolds with husband, Jon; step siblings, James and Sonya; nephew, Jack Putt; and many extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorials be made in Ernie’s honor to a charity of your choice supporting metal health.
A celebration of life will be held in the near future.
