Spence H. Hughes, wife of the late Raymond E. Hughes and daughter of the late Martha Pickett and Richard Spence Hebb, went to her eternal peace on December 28, 2025, following a courageous fight with breast cancer.

Spence is survived by her son, Ross H. Hughes (Melissa) and daughter, Genie H. Oplinger (Chris), grandchildren Neely M. Rossi (Cole), Jesse A. Matt, Hampton T. Hughes, Holden S. Hughes and her precious great grandson, Callahan Rossi and her very special friend, Vinny Slizewski, as well as several cousins and many friends who all loved her dearly.

Spence was a proud native of Greenville, SC and lived in Greenville her entire life, except when she attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia. She graduated from Greenville High School. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for over 24 years and then transferred her membership to Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church where she was a member since 1978. She was the hard-working administrative assistant to the plant manager, during her 25 year career at Cryovac, Simpsonville.
