Susan Joann Vaulton Hamby, 64, widow of Jacob C. Hamby, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 1, 2026.  Born in Knoxville, she was a daughter of the late John D. Vaulton and Mildred Reva Rolen Vaulton Ketchem.

Susie was a free spirit and loved to travel.  Her favorite destination was the beach.  When Susie was not traveling, she enjoyed watching old black and white movies, although the 1997 version of Titanic was one of her favorites.  She also enjoyed reading and again had a favorite, Gone with the Wind.  Susie was very active in her church and willing to lend a hand.  She volunteered for vacation bible school, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and helping prepare bulletins.  Susie also loved working in the yard and riding on her mower, she even participated in a mower race for a church fall festival.

Susie is survived by her sister, Juanita Sharp; her brother, John D. Vaulton, Jr. (Judy); a nephew of the home, Andrew Richard; and many extended family.  She was preceded in death by her brothers, Mikey Vaulton and Eddie Vaulton; and her second father, Alfred Ketchem.

A visitation will be held at Fletcher Funeral Service on Monday, January 5, 2026 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm.  A life celebration will follow beginning at 2:00 pm.
