James Helmut Martin, 66, husband of Roberta Elizabeth Dow, passed away at home on Thursday, February 5, 2026.  Born in Tarrytown, NY, he was a son of the late Volker Helmut Karl Martin and Barbara Ann Mullins Martin.

Jim served in the US Army and re-enlisted following the September 11 terror attacks.  He remained close to the men he served with in Iraq.  Jim was a jack of all trades and enjoyed woodworking and working on engines, however, he was a not fan of yardwork.  He collected guns and enjoyed time at the shooting range.  Jim loved to travel and was a welcomed sight to his cat “Cuddles” when he returned home.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Nadine Bowell with husband Dom and Kayla Busby with husband Chris; step-daughters, Heidi Pinkley with husband Matthew and Dawn Stammers with husband Richard; seven grandchildren; a brother, Andrew; and a sister, Monica.

A service will be held at a later date.
