Hazel Sims Obituary
Mary “Hazel” Thomas Sims, 87, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday March 20, 2026.
Hazel was born in Pendleton, SC April 2, 1938, to the late Melvin & Ida Elizabeth Thomas. She was a devoted wife of her late husband for 65 years and a loving mother & grandmother of 2 children, 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was a very talented lady and had various skills such as making various wooden items for her sisters, Barbie doll clothes & furniture for her daughter, played piano & guitar by ear, and was an excellent artist just to name a few of her talents. We felt like she could do almost anything Dad could and if not, she was there beside him assisting or supervising. One impressive thing they did together was to brick our home, just the two of them. She handed the bricks while Dad laid them. She jointed/cleaned each brick after they were laid to make sure they were like she wanted. Memories of her and Dad doing many projects together will always be with us.
Surviving are daughter, Cindy Weathers with husband Barry, 2 sisters, Grace Masters & Bonnie Kelly, grandson,Brandon Sims, granddaughter, Amy Carmack with husband Cody, 3 grandchildren, Cole, Lucas and Sadie Carmack. She was predeceased by husband, Robert Houston “Bobby” Sims of Fountain Inn, SC, son, Robert Thomas “Tommy” Sims of Fountain Inn, SC, brother, Fred Thomas of Pelzer and a sister Lucille Woods of Simpsonville, SC.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Thursday, at Fletcher Funeral Service. The family will receive friends an hour prior. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to, Meals on Wheels of Greenville, 31 Chalmers Road Greenville, SC 29605.
