Gene Warner Obituary

Eugene H. “Gene” Warner was born August 1, 1935 in Barberton, OH to the late Claude W. and Marie A. Warner.  He was pre-deceased by his wife, Maureen L. “Cindy” Warner in May 1993 and his son-in-law, James Fredrick “Rick” Byrd in May 2019. Surviving are three children, James L. Warner (Babs) of Holland, OH, Lisa L. Blankenship (Jack) of Reidville, SC and Laura S. Warner-Byrd of Simpsonville, SC; twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren.  Gene was the youngest of siblings pre-deceased by Lauretta M. Ebert, Walter H. Warner, and Robert L. Warner.


Gene was a talented musician, playing both piano and organ.  He played piano for the Gospelairs in his teenage years and played organ for numerous churches for over 50 years.  Gene and Cindy were pianist and organist at Calvary Baptist Church in Rittman, OH for 20 years before moving to Simpsonville, SC.


A graveside service with military honors will be held later this year.  Time and date will be made available when finalized.
