Daniel Young “Danny” Thomason, Sr., 78, husband to Sandra Dean Thomason for 58 years, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

Danny was born in Greenville to the late Joe Fletcher Thomason and Marjorie Young Thomason.  He was a member of First Baptist Simpsonville.  He was an alumnus of Presbyterian College and a graduate of the Louisiana State University (LSU) Bankers College.  Danny worked many years at Southern Bank and later founded Citizens Financial.  He loved golf and was a member of Fox Run Country Club.  He was a former member of the Fountain Inn Chamber of Commerce, Fountain Inn Masonic Lodge #192, and the Fountain Inn Rotary Club where he previously served as the club President.  He was a longtime volunteer of the Fountain Inn Fire Department.  Danny’s greatest achievement and joy was being “Potts” to his grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Jay Thomason with wife Heather; a daughter, Traci Barbrey with husband Mike; a sister, Margie Jo Trotter; six grandchildren, Milli Hart with husband Austin, Landon Thomason, Miles Barbrey, Larson Thomason, Keri Neff with husband David, and Allison Noll with husband Donald; and two greatgrandchildren, Naomi and Noah.

A celebration of Danny’s life will begin at 4 o’clock Monday in the Worship Center at First Baptist Simpsonville.
