Janet Heinbuch Obituary

Janet Pritchett Heinbuch, 97, widow of Howard Hepburn Heinbuch, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 17, 2026.

Janet and Howard reached a rare milestone of 70 years of marriage before his death in 2018.  Born in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of the late Herbert E. Pritchett and Velma Rosamond Carew Pritchett.

Janet worked many years as a real estate broker in Bergen County, NJ and is where she and Howard raised their family. They moved to FL, giving up her career, to be a caregiver to several family members.  She joyfully cared for her mother and father, her mother-in-law, an aunt, and later her husband.  In addition to her family, Janet cared for her neighbors as she served as a volunteer for Halifax Urban Ministries (HUM) and Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church.  She loved to read and enjoyed crosswords and other puzzles, but her greatest joy was her family as they raised their 3 children and later became a grandma to six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Janet is survived by her son, David H. Heinbuch (Maureen) of Simpsonville, SC; her brother, Thomas Pritchett (Linda) of Annapolis, MD; son-in-law, Ronald A Brown of NYC, NY; grandchildren Daniel Brown (Grace and great grandchildren Maya and Matthew) of Huntington Beach, CA, Michael Brown (Kerri) of NYC, NY, David Gavin (Nicole and great granddaughters, Emma and Katie) of Ridgefield, CT, Scott Gavin (Lauren, and great granddaughters Kelly and Kaylee) of Franklin Lakes, NJ, Timothy Heinbuch and Stephanie Heinbuch (Joshua Shulak) of Simpsonville, SC.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Hepburn Heinbuch, two daughters, Lois Heinbuch Brown and Deborah Heinbuch Gavin and Paul Gavin, Deborah’s husband, and her sister, Linda Carter and her husband Richard Carter.

Janet will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Janet’s honor to Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church,105 Amsden Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32176.
