Sharon Patterson Obituary
Sharon Denise Patterson (née Williams), age 69, of Greenville, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on April 28, 2026. Though her passing was unexpected, her life was marked by a steady, faithful love for God, her family, and others.
Sharon was born on August 30, 1956, in Toledo, Ohio, to Myron and Faye Williams. As the oldest of nine siblings, she naturally stepped into a role that would define much of her life—a caregiver, a helper, and a steady presence for those around her.
She graduated from Adrian High School in Adrian, Michigan, and later from Bob Jones University in 1978.
On June 10, 1978, she married Curtis Patterson, beginning a life of ministry and service together that would span decades. Sharon faithfully served alongside Curtis as a pastor’s wife, first in Dowagiac, Michigan and then for many years in West Virginia, including the Clarksburg and Charleston areas. She embraced her role with humility and dedication, investing in her home, her church, and the people God placed in her path.
Sharon was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud grandmother. She poured herself into raising her three sons—Nathanael (Crystal), Jonathan, and Jason (Jessica)—and she dearly loved her daughters-in-law and her grandchildren, Karis, Grayson, Ashton, and Cade, who brought her great joy.
She was also a woman of quiet, consistent generosity. Sharon gave not out of abundance, but out of a willing heart. She opened her home to family and friends passing through. She looked for ways to bless others in thoughtful, practical ways—saving grocery points so her sisters could have china and silverware when they married, making wedding cakes for her siblings and even the next generation, and serving as a caregiver to her in-laws with patience and love.
She was also a faithful encourager, quietly lifting up those around her and taking joy in their successes. She loved deeply, supported faithfully, and prayed continually for those she cared about.
Sharon had a heart for missions and for the spread of the gospel, reflecting a lifelong influence of faith and service. More than anything, she lived out her beliefs through the way she loved and gave to others.
She is now joyfully reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Curtis, her father, Myron Williams, her in-laws, Curtis and Barbara Patterson, and others who have gone before her.
Sharon is survived by her sons, Nathanael (Crystal), Jonathan, and Jason (Jessica); her cherished grandchildren, Karis, Grayson, Ashton, and Cade; her mother, Faye Williams; and her siblings—Tim (Winnie) Williams, Sandi (Mike) Beckett, Shellee (Mike) Phillips, Sue (Chuck) Gfeller, Tom (Lynnette) Williams, Sally Williams, Shirley (Scott) Montgomery, and Shawn (Dave) Smith—and their families.
A service to celebrate Sharon’s life will be held on Saturday, May 2, at Faith Baptist Church in Simpsonville, South Carolina, with visitation at 11:00 a.m. and the service at 12:00 p.m. She will later be laid to rest in West Virginia beside her husband.
Sharon cared deeply about missionaries and the work of bringing the gospel to those who have not yet heard. She supported this work faithfully, both in prayer and in giving. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor her life by contributing to Short Strides. The link is Short Strides, Inc.
