John Douglas Cooley, Sr., 84, husband of Dora Amelia “Molly” Beaman Cooley for 24 years, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

Mr. Cooley was born in Greenville County to the late Lewis Edward “Bud” Cooley and Louise Elizabeth Gresham Cooley.  He was a veteran of the US Air Force and retired from Cryovac.  John was a member of Hillside Baptist Church where he served as an assistant teacher for the Adult 2 Sunday School Class.  He sang in the choir and served with the church Missions Team.  John was a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association (Golden Strip Chapter) and rode many missions with the Patriot Guard on military funeral escorts.  He served with the Champions for Life Prison Ministry.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, David Cooley (Lori), Doug Cooley, Jr. (Tammy), and Jesse Cooley (Ann); a daughter, Suzzy Christopher; a brother, Leon Cooley with wife Carol; twelve grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.  He was predeceased by two sons, Steve Lee and Zach Devos; two brothers, Lewis Cooley and Roy Cooley; a sister, Nancy Brown; and a son-in-law, Darrell Christopher.

A celebration of John’s life will begin at 11 o’clock Saturday, May 2nd, at Hillside Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends following the service.
