Linda Jean Smith Meetze, 78, beloved wife of Bernerd Waydell“Bernie” Meetze and mother to Wade and Wes, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

Mrs. Meetze was born in Greenwood to her heroes, the late Thomas Henry Smith and Dodie Mae Dove Smith. She graduated from Wade Hampton High School. Linda later moved to Columbia, SC,  where she met and fell in love with Bernie and they spent 57 years together. She retired with the State of South Carolina.

Linda enjoyed being outdoors, maintaining a spotless home, and socializing with family and friends.  She loved her dogs: Misty, Samantha, Skeeter, Beau and Little Bit immensely; however, her greatest joy was being “Mama” to her boys and “Mimi” to her granddaughters.

Surviving, in addition to her husband and sons are: a sister, Shirley Berry (Colie); and two grandchildren, Keeley Meetze and Dayton Meetze.

A celebration of Linda’s life will begin at 2 o’clock Sunday, May 10th, at the Magnolia Pavillon at Heritage Park.  The family will receive friends following the service.
