Anna Elmore Obituary
Anna Cornelia Perry Elmore, 89, widow of Taft “Henry” Lee Elmore, Jr., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 10, 2026. Anna was the fifth of six children and lived a life rooted in faith, family, perseverance, and love.
Mrs. Elmore was born on June 15, 1936, to the late John Perry and Missouri Perry in Greenville, South Carolina. She was raised in the “Little Texas” community, where she developed the strong values and determined spirit that would define her life.
Anna was a bright and forward-thinking woman who was truly ahead of her time. Alongside her husband, Taft, she helped own and operate two stores, a farm, and a janitorial business. While dedicating many years to being a devoted stay-at-home mother and supporting her husband’s business ventures, Anna later pursued her own entrepreneurial dream by opening Ebony Driver Training School. Through dedication and hard work, she successfully owned and operated the business for 32 years before retiring. Even then, Anna remained active by entering the real estate business, where she bought, sold, and renovated homes.
Faith was the cornerstone of Anna’s life. From an early age, she was taught to serve and honor the Lord. She gave her life to Christ and faithfully served in her church choir and later in quartet groups alongside her husband, Henry. Together, they ensured their children were raised in the faith, baptized, and spiritually grounded.
Anna was known for her vibrant personality and love for people. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, socializing with family and friends, and sharing colorful idioms and sayings that brought laughter, wisdom, and warmth to those around her. Her words often left lasting impressions, and her joyful spirit touched everyone who knew her.
Anna was the loving mother of nine children, four of whom preceded her in death: Stephanie Elmore, Nakita Elmore, Gloria Wilkerson and Dwight Elmore. She leaves to cherish her memory five children: Joan Duck, Vickie Rombley, Taft Elmore, Neisha Elmore, and Jewell Connally.
Her legacy continues through 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of extended family members and dear friends.
A celebration of Anna’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 16th in the chapel of Fletcher Funeral Service. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:15 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Though Anna has transitioned from this life, her life remains meaningful, her love enduring and she will be deeply missed by all who know her.
