Jay Vaughan, Jr. Obituary

James Douglas Vaughan, Jr., age 62, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 16, 2026.  He adored his wife, Jill George Vaughan, and loved her faithfully for over 40 years of marriage.  He was an exceptional husband, father, and friend.

Born July 31, 1963 in Greenville, he was the son of James Douglas Vaughan and the late Ginger Forrester Vaughan.

Jay is survived by his four children, Lansing Dickson (Blake), Forrest Vaughan (Kelley), Chase Vaughan (Jayne), and Camden Vaughan (Katie); ten grandchildren, Beckett, James, Inslee, Parker, Kate, Avery, Briggs, Ella, Emma, Hannah, and baby boy expected in October will make eleven; two sisters, Gindi Prutzman (Keith), Kari Savage (Shane), and cousin Meredith Kinerney (Butch).

Jay graduated Clemson University in 1985 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He went on to work alongside his parents at the family business, Vaughan Equipment and eventually started his own manufacturing company, now V6 Fabrication, where he worked alongside his sons and son in law.

Jay was a man of strong faith, he and Jill were always involved in the local church, he served people well and intentionally.  He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them at Lake Keowee and on the family farm.  He enjoyed exploring new places with his wife, racing with his dad and his sons, and cheering on his children and grandkids in all their endeavors.  Jay loved beautiful, fast cars - as long as they came in red, and enjoyed collecting and restoring tractors, another hobby he cherished sharing with family.  He was honored to be Daddy Jay to ten grandchildren, you could find him picking up a grandkid or two to assist him with jobs on a tractor or dump truck every weekend.

A celebration of Jay’s life will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church Greenville 200 W Washington St, Greenville, SC 29601 beginning at 2:00 pm.  The family will visit with friends following the service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jay’s honor to Isaiah 117 House, PO Box 842, Elizabethton, TN 37644 or online at isaiah117house.com.
