Russ Edward Newlon, 62, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

Mr. Newlon was born in Savannah, GA to the late Russell Lee Newlon and Linda Durham Newlon. Russ was a career truck driver and took pride in owning and operating his own rig.  He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and spending time with family.  His greatest joy was being “Papa Russ”.

Surviving is his companion, Rhonda Hawkins; a son, Devin Newlon and wife Rebecca; three sisters, LeAnne Burdge with husband Jim, Donna Odom with husband Tommy, and Charissa Chapman with husband Danny; four grandchildren, Logan, Devin Jr., Breanna, and Sarah; and two great-grandchildren, Brantley and Lakelyn. He was predeceased by a son, Brandon Newlon; and a sister, Sheri Lynn Newlon.

A celebration of Russ’ life will begin at 1:30 pm Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Service. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
