Jimmy Sims Obituary
Jimmy Ray Sims, 87, husband of Gladys "Peggy" Williams Sims, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Born in Fountain Inn, he was a son of the late Jayrue Sims and Virginia Lois Pressley Sims.
Jimmy was a veteran of the Army and worked at Riegel Textiles until their closing. Jimmy enjoyed quail hunting and fishing, although he didn't eat fish. He loved to sing and sang in the church choir. Jimmy began working as an installer of doors and windows after leaving the textile industry. He was a hard worker and took great pride in his workmanship.
Jimmy is survived by three sisters, Helen Storay of Fountain Inn, Betty Yeargin of Easley, and Linda Martin of Pelzer. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Curtis Sims, Bobby Sims, and Frank Sims.
A graveside celebration of Jimmy's life will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Greenville Memorial Garden Mausoleum beginning at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jimmy's honor to Daventon Baptist Church, 312 Daventon Road, Pelzer, SC 29669.
