Frances Jenell Humphries Rice, 91, widow of Bobby Gene Rice, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 27, 2026.  Born in Gaffney, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Gary Humphries and Irene Valeria Bennett Humphries.

Frances was a proud retiree of the Atlantic Coast Railroad where she served as a telegraph operator.  When not working, Frances enjoyed life alongside her husband, Bobby, assisting on their farm and caring for their herd of Black and Red Angus cattle.  They enjoyed friendships and activities with other members of the National Angus Association.  Together they shared a love of travel and created many memories while visiting 49 of the United States.

Frances was a lifelong member of Fountain Inn First Baptist Church, where she faithfully served throughout the years.  She found great joy in teaching preschool and kindergarten children, singing in the church choir, and helping with Vacation Bible School and other church activities.

Above all else, Frances treasured her family.  She was a loving, dedicated, and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved.  Her kindness, support, and steady presence created a lasting legacy for her family.  She will be remembered for her strong faith, caring heart, and the love she gave so freely to her family, friends, church, and community.

Frances is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Rice Blake (Doug) and Cecilia Rice Groce (Bryan); grandchildren, Joshua Blake (Jessica), Savannah Griffin (Allan), Jeremy Blake (Meagan), and Austin Groce (Carson); great grandchildren, Joey Blake, John Blake, Grayson Griffin, Luke Blake, and Addison Griffin; a sister, Val Rozakos (Tony); and her sister-in-law, Marian Humphries.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Humphries.

A graveside celebration of Frances’ life will be held at Cannon Memorial Park on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 beginning at 4:00 pm.
