Obituary of William Lee "Bill" Cantrell, Sr.

William Lee “Bill” Cantrell, Sr., 78, of Gray Court, passed away on Tuesday July 31, 2018. Born in Spartanburg County on March 7, 1940, he was the son of the late Leon Defoye and Ellie Mae Cantrell, as well as the husband of Diane Owens Cantrell. Bill was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was a Shriner and an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed traveling, and was an all-around handyman.

 

In addition to his wife of over 50 years, Bill is survived by his son, William Lee Cantrell, Jr. and wife, Sherri; a daughter, Sherri Cantrell Clem and husband, Joe; and grandchildren, Brieanna McDowell, Emily McDowell, Tyler Cantrell, and Mattison Cantrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Emily Vernell Simmons.

 

The funeral service for Mr. Cantrell will be held at 3pm on Sunday, August 5th at Friendship Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 4th from 5-7pm at Fletcher Funeral Service.
