Obituary of Johnny Montgomery Childers, Sr

Johnny Montgomery Childers Sr., 80, husband of Beverly Ann Hammack Childers for 60 years, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 28, 2019.

Mr. Childers was born in Burnside, KY to the late Herbert Edwin Childers and Della Elizabeth Freeman Childers.   He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from Belk’s.  He was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church.  John enjoyed the beach, birds, watches, clocks, woodworking, and John Deere tractors.  His greatest joy was being “Papaw” to his grandkids.

 

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Johnny Childers Jr. and wife Lourdes, Jeff Childers and wife Cheryl, and Jason Childers and wife Amy; a daughter, Kim Childress and husband Mark; twelve grandchildren, Kristen Childress, Jeremy Childress, Taylor Childress, Josiah Childers, Abigail Velazquez and husband Charvel, Jonah Childers, Job Childers, Gabriella Childers, Elijah Childers, Caleb Childers, Nolan Childers, and Aubrie Childers; and seven great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a brother, Herb Childers; and a sister, Dottie Helton.

 

A Celebration of John’s Life will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 5th, 2019 at Brushy Creek Baptist Church (located at 4999 Old Spartanburg Rd in Taylors, SC).  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
