Obituary of Mirian Elizabeth Garrett
Mirian Elizabeth “Mickey” Chandler Garrett, 90, widow of Clarence Edwin “Beau” Garrett Sr., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 25, 2019.
Mrs. Garrett was born in Greenville to the late George Dewey Chandler and Kittie Mae Burrell Chandler. She was a member of Standing Springs Baptist Church. Mickey was a huge fan of Elvis and the Clemson Tigers. She enjoyed flower gardening, music, and dancing. Her claim-to-fame was she actually got a chance to dance the “Twist” with Chubby Checkers. Mickey was a social butterfly and she loved people.
Surviving are four daughters, Kathy Thackston and husband Tony, Susan Williams and husband Vonnie, Penny Barrett and husband Frank, and Rae Hanley; a sister, Ann Parramore; 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, C.E. “Pid” Garrett Jr. and Mark Garrett; a brother, Harry Chandler; and a sister, Faye Pitts.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Fletcher Funeral Service.
A Celebration of Mickey’s Life will be 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Frank Barrett. Burial will be in Shiloh UMC Cemetery.
