Obituary of Willie Gene Rewis

Willie Gene Rewis, 85, husband of Rodie Bolden Rewis, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 23, 2019.

 

Mr. Rewis was born in Collins, GA to the late Roy Rewis and Rubye Andrews Rewis.  He was a co-owner and operator of R.T. Inc.  He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where he taught the Senior Adults Sunday School Class.  Gene loved sports of all kinds, and he was a huge fan of Georgia Tech, the Atlanta Braves, and NASCAR.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, clog dancing, and farming, but his main love was working.  He was known by his grandchildren as “Papa Gene.”

 

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Mike Rewis, Mark Rewis, and DeWayne Chesney and wife Tammy; a daughter, Debra Barrett; four grandchildren, Angela Garrett and husband Scott, Levi Chesney and wife Jen, Camron Chesney and wife Jill, Delayne O’Donnell and husband Jacob; five great-grandchildren, Lucy, Bailey, Brooklyn, Hannah and Lucas; and his beloved dog Champ.  He was predeceased by a brother, Edwin Rewis; a son-in-law, Charles Barrett; and a beloved dog Chipper.

 

A Celebration of Gene’s Life will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Bethany Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Michael Beasley.  The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.
