James Heyward Black, 82, husband of Kathy Mann Black, went to be with the Lord, Monday, April 13, 2020. Mr. Black was born in Greenville County to the late Jim and Ellie Mae Slatton Black. He was a Farrier and Blacksmith by trade and a member of Beulah Baptist Church. He served in the Laurens County Saddle Club for 50 years, where he was past president and was a Trail boss for Loretta Lynn’s Dude Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN. He raised and hunted championship bird dogs and was featured in national hunting magazines. He also loved growing tomatoes and giving them away to friends and family. Surviving, in addition to his wife are a daughter, Arlene “Punk” Abercrombie and husband, Ricky; two grandchildren, Becky Asberry and husband, Tim and Mark Abercrombie and fiancé, Leslie Rackley; and two great-grandchildren, Cole and Madison Asberry. He was predeceased by a brother, George Black and four sisters, Bobbie Jean Lancaster, Luree Harvey, Anna Katherine Segerist and Nellie Mae Black. Viewing for Mr. Heyward will be from 9am-5pm Thursday at Fletcher Funeral Service. Funeral Services will be private.
